A king held an archery contest to determine the best archer in all the land. When three archers remained, the best of all in the kingdom, the king offered one final test. A wooden fish was hung on a pole, far out in the field. Whoever struck the fish closest to the head would be the winner.

\nThe three archers lined up, aimed up into the sky, and loosed their arrows.

\nThe king called each archer close to ask about their shot. The third place archer came forward.
\n
\n\u201cWhat were you aiming at?\u201d asked the King.
\n
\n\u201cI was aiming at the fish, your Majesty\u201d said the archer.
\n
\nThe second archer approached. \u201cWhat were you aiming at?\u201d asked the King.
\n
\n\u201cIf it please your Majesty, I was aiming for the fish\u2019s head.\u201d
\n
\nThe winner approached. \u201cWhat were you aiming at?\u201d asked the King.
\n
\n\u201cYour Majesty, I was aiming at the fish\u2019s eye.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTo do no <\/i>harm is impossible. There is always some harm.\u201d<\/p>\n
Perhaps.<\/p>\n
But I can tell you this: not one of the people who has ever said that to me over the years had tried the techniques in this book.<\/p>\n
